There isn't a shortage of vegan eateries in Antigua. However, most of them have limited food and closes by 4 pm. This presents a problem for vegans like myself who want to dine beyond these hours. Luckily, a lot of restaurants have risen to the call to make their menus more inclusive of different lifestyle choices and dietary restrictions (took them long enough).Below is a list of my top choices (1 being my most favorite and 5 the least favorite ) as well as recommended meals:
1. FOX HOUSE ANTIGUA
I've never seen a non-exclusive vegan restaurant with so many vegan options. This restaurant got you covered from starter to dessert. The menu was really created with vegans in mind and you can tell it wasn't an after thought. It's the perfect ambiance for birthday dinners, date nights, lunch dates etc.
Must haves : Pesto tofu pasta . For those persons who do not consume soy, the curry chick peas served with basmati rice and vegetable couscous are perfect options. All of the meals are prepared to perfection.

Nestled in the beautiful village of Freetown, this mesmerizing restaurant is home to Asian inspired cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide array of vegan options here. This restaurant is perfect for lunch , dinner, anniversary and birthday celebrations and date nights.

3.CURRY AND TANDOORI HOUSE
This picturesque restaurant located in Jolly Harbour is home to curry so if you're a curry lover, this is your spot. The menu here was also created with vegans in mind. There are so many vegan options (including yellow dhal and chick pea curry) to choose from and everything is bursting with flavour.
Must Haves : The ALOO GOBI( potatoes , cauliflower, mixed spices etc served with basmati rice) and the Curry chickpeas served with basmati rice

curry chick pea and naan

4.NOMAD
There are not many vegan options on the menu at Nomad . However, there are two plant based options which make up for the lack of variety (kinda). What is also refreshing is that once you inform the staff that you're vegan, they're very accommodating. Anyway back to the menu. There is a veggie pesto pasta and a scrumptious tofu wrap. I recommend both

5. CASA ROOTS
This elegant restaurant barely features any vegan options but made it to the list because of their tapas menu. There is a black eye bean hummus that is really delicious and the vegetable tempuras are also a big deal. Please notify the chef that you're vegan if you choose to dine here because I've dined here and was accommodated for.
